WEST WARWICK — The West Warwick Police Department said it is still trying to piece together exactly what happened in a single-car accident on Oct. 22 that sent three men to the hospital, two with serious injuries. The traffic officer working the case is still in the process of interviewing people and investigating the scene, according to Sgt. Scott Amaral.
The men involved in the accident are still recovering from their injuries, Amaral said. The two passengers, Mark Robideau, 29, of West Warwick, who was sitting in the back seat of the 2003 Nissan Sentra when it left the roadway, striking a fire hydrant and launching airborne into an unoccupied parked pickup truck before rolling over in a driveway, and Jason Young, 28, also of West Warwick, who was in the front seat of the vehicle, have both been released from the hospital and are at home continuing their recoveries, according to Amaral. The driver of the car, Dennis Senra, 29, of Coventry, who police previously said had sustained the most serious injuries in the accident, is still in serious condition in the hospital, Amaral said. The accident was reported at 1:33 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to previous reports. West Warwick Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of Bridge Street at Branch Avenue to investigate the report of a single-vehicle roll-over crash with victims trapped inside. On arrival at 13 Bridge St., the police said, rescue personnel found a silver 2003 Nissan Sentra resting on its side in the driveway. Robideau had reportedly crawled out of the back of the vehicle and was lying beside it, but the two males sitting in the front were still trapped inside of the car, previous reports indicate. The West Warwick Fire Department said the roof of the car had been partially ripped off in the accident, and fire personnel had to remove the remainder of the vehicle’s roof to get Senra and Young out. Senra and Young were transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, with “pretty significant injuries,” police said at the time of the accident. Robideau was taken by rescue to Kent Hospital, Warwick, for treatment of minor injuries, according to the police. |
