Report: Poor training led to 9 S.C. fire deaths

An analysis of last year's fatal furniture store fire that claimed the lives of 9 South Carolina, firefighters has been released. The report says inadequate training, outdated tactics and aging equipment helped lead to the firefighters' deaths. (May 15)

Autopsy reveals filly Eight Belles was healthy

Bush to talk oil with Saudis

With oil prices hitting new records, US President Bush is expected to press Saudi Arabia to increase output. Bush is under added pressure from Congress. Democrats are trying to block a $1.4 billion arms sale to the kingdom if it fails to increase its output of oil.

California court supports gay marriage

The California Supreme court overturned a ban on same-sex marriages, ruling it unconstitutional. Massachusetts is now the only U.S. state to allow gay marriage. Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Vermont permit same-sex civil unions that grant largely the same state rights as married couples but lack the full, federal legal protections of marriage.
